Energy

June 2, 2015
The introduction and promotion of renewable energy becomes increasingly important from the viewpoint of energy security, realization of low-carbon society and improvement of energy access.

In this context, Japan has strengthened its diplomatic efforts in promoting renewable energy in the world in close cooperation with relevant international organizations such as IRENA(International Renewable Energy Agency).

As Japan acts as the President of IRENA Assembly in 2015 and it hosted the PALM7 in May this year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold an international seminar which focuses on the promotion of renewable energy in the Pacific Island Countries.

We will invite experts from IRENA and SPC(Secretariat of the Pacific Community) to share their expertise of current situation and challenge in promoting renewables in the Pacific Island Countries. We also invite practitioners and experts from relevant government agencies, research institute and private companies as well as diplomatic mission in Tokyo to discuss Japan's possible contribution.
