Foreign Minister Kono pays a courtesy call on Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark

On October 20, commencing at 12:00p.m. local time (7:00p.m. Japan time) for approximately 30 minutes, Mr.Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark, during his visit to Denmark. The overview is as follows.
- Prime Minister Rasmussen sincerely welcomed Minister Kono’s visit to Denmark and Japan’s attendance at the P4G (Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030) Summit and expressed his intention to further strengthen our amicable bilateral cooperation.
- Minister Kono extended his congratulations on Denmark’s leadership to host the P4G Summit and stated that he would like to promote Sustainable Developent Goals (SDGs) with Denmark and other P4G member states. Furthermore, Minister Kono welcomed the successively active mutual high-level visits since last year, which marked the 150th anniversarty of the establishment of diplomatic relations, including Prime Minister Abe’s visit to Denmark, and stated that the development of the bilateral cooperation has made a steady progress based on the Strategic Partnership.
- The two ministers shared the view that they continue to cooperate for promotion of free trade and enhancement of the bilateral economic relations.
- With regard to the North Korea situation, the two ministers shared the position that it is indispensable to fully implement the relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions (UNSCRs) toward denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
