On September 16, commencing at 2:05 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Chief Cabinet Secretary, received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. David Clarinval, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Employment, Economy and Agriculture, H.E. Mr. Maxime Prévot, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Development Cooperation, and H.E. Ms. Vanessa Matz, Minister of Public Action and Modernization, in charge of Public Enterprises, the Civil Service, State Real Estate Management, Digital and Scientific Policy, who were visiting Japan. The overview is as follows:

  1. At the outset, Chief Cabinet Secretary HAYASHI welcomed the visit to Japan by three Belgian ministers and their participation at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, expressing gratitude for the visit of many dignitaries from Belgium, including Their Royal Highnesses Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz, to the Expo.
  2. Chief Cabinet Secretary HAYASHI, who also serves as President of the Japan-Belgium Parliamentary Friendship League, stated his intention to work for strengthening bilateral relations in preparation for the 160th anniversary of friendship between Japan and Belgium in 2026.
  3. In response, the Belgian side stated its intention to continue working towards the further strengthening of Japan-Belgium relations and expressed its expectation for deepening people-to-people exchanges, economic ties between the two countries and cooperation in the international arena, looking ahead to the 160th anniversary of friendship between Japan and Belgium.
