1. Opening remarks, G20 Osaka Summit

Prime Minister Abe stated that he was glad to see Chancellor Merkel in Osaka following her official visit to Tokyo last February and stressed that he would like to cooperate with Chancellor Merkel so that G20 will be able to issue a strong message focusing on growth of global economy.

In response, Chancellor Merkel stated that she was pleased to meet Prime Minister Abe again. She also stated that Germany shares the Japan
s positions and she will closely cooperate with Prime Minister Abe, who is acting as the chair of G20 Osaka Summit.

2. Bilateral Cooperation

The two leaders welcomed the concrete development for achievement of a free and open Indo-Pacific and shared the view on strengthening bilateral cooperation in Africa on the occasion of TICAD7 to be held in Yokohama in August.

3. Regional Situations

The two leaders also exchanged views on the situation in North Korea.
