Prime Minister Abe Receives a Courtesy Call by the Chairman of the CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group in the Bundestag of Germany
On March 22, commencing at 2:35 p.m. for approximately 25 minutes, Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, received a courtesy call from Mr. Volker Kauder, Chairman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Bundestag. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
1. At the outset, Prime Minister Abe welcomed the sixth visit by Chairman Kauder to Japan, and congratulated him on his receipt of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star in the 2015 Autumn Conferment of Decorations on Foreign Nationals. Chairman Kauder stated that it was a great honor to be awarded and that he would continue to be committed to strengthening bilateral relations between Japan and Germany.
2. Prime Minister Abe and Chairman Kauder confirmed that Japan and Germany would cooperate closely towards this year’s G7 Ise-Shima Summit. Chairman Kauder expressed his respect for Japan’s efforts to address issues for the international community.
3. Prime Minister Abe expressed his respect for Germany’s efforts regarding the refugee crisis. Prime Minister Abe and Chairman Kauder confirmed the importance of taking efforts to solve the root causes of the refugee crisis.
4. Prime Minister Abe and Chairman Kauder also exchanged opinions on international affairs, such as situations in Ukraine, and on the importance of deepening the exchange between young people of Japan and Germany.
