Exchange of views between Assistant to the Prime Minister TERADA Minoru and
Ambassador of Australia for Arms Control and Counter-Proliferation Ian BIGGS
On April 11, commencing at 6:30 p.m. for approximately 40 minutes, Mr. TERADA Minoru, Assistant to the Prime Minister, exchanged views on nuclear disarmament with Mr. Ian BIGGS, Ambassador for Arms Control and Counter-Proliferation, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia.
Welcoming the longstanding cooperation in disarmament between the two countries, Mr. TERADA explained Prime Minister KISHIDA’s strong determination to lead international efforts towards a world without nuclear weapons and underscored the importance of maintaining and strengthening the NPT regime, which constitutes the cornerstone of the international nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation regime. Ambassador BIGGS explained Australia's views regarding the 10th NPT Review Conference to be held in August this year.
Both sides affirmed close cooperation between Japan and Australia to maintain momentum for the success of the 10th NPT Review Conference.
