Japanese
- Approximately 120 students from the ten ASEAN member countries will visit
Japan from November 13 (Fri) to 19 (Thu) as part of the Japan-East Asia Network
of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) Programme. These students will
hold the Japan-ASEAN Student Conference in Tokyo and Sendai along with approximately
30 Japanese students.
- During the Conference, students from Japan and the ASEAN countries are scheduled to discuss and submit proposals to the government regarding the future of ASEAN integration as well as that of the Japan-ASEAN partnership while bearing in mind towards building an East Asian community in the future. It is expected that through these kinds of cooperative activities, a network will be created between the youths who will play an important role in future exchanges between Japan and ASEAN. It is also expected that the Japanese students will further deepen their interest and understanding towards ASEAN.

JENESYS was announced by then-Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the Second East Asia Summit (EAS), which was held in January 2007. It is a 35-billion-yen youth exchange programme, inviting about 6,000 young people to Japan mainly from the EAS member countries (ASEAN, China, the ROK, India, Australia, and New Zealand) every year for the five years following 2007.
