- The Exchange of Diplomatic Notes concerning the Entry into Force of
the Agreement Between Japan and the Republic of Peru for the Promotion,
Protection and Liberalisation of Investment (Japan-Peru Investment Agreement)
took place in Tokyo on November 10 (Tue) between H.E. Mr. Shuichiro Megata,
Ambassador of Japan to Peru, and H.E. Mr. Juan Carlos Capunay Chavez, Ambassador
of the Republic of Peru to Japan, with H.E. Mr. Hatoyama Yukio, Prime Minister
of Japan, and H.E. Mr. Alan Garcia, President of the Republic of Peru, in
attendance. With this Exchange of Notes, the Agreement will enter into force
on December 10 (Thu).
- This Agreement, like the Investment Agreements and the Investment chapters
of the Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) that Japan has recently concluded,
provides for comprehensive and detailed matters related to the promotion,
protection, and liberalization of investment.
- Along with the promotion of investment between Japan and Peru, the further deepening of the economic relationship between the two countries is expected with the entry into force of this Agreement.
