Foreign Minister Kamikawa meets with Women leaders of Côte d'Ivoire

On April 29, commencing at 5:35 p.m. (local time) (April 30, 2:35 a.m. JST) for approximately 95 minutes, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who is visiting the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, held a dinner meeting with H.E. Ms. Anne Désirée Ouloto, Minister of State, Minister of Civil Service and Modernization of the Administration of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, Ms. Solange Amichia, Chief Executive Officer, Investment Promotion Center of the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire, Ms. Mahoua Fadika-Delafosse, Vice-President of the General Confederation of Côte d'Ivoire Companies (CGECI) and others. The overview is as follows.

  1. At the outsest, Minister Kamikawa stated that Japan attaches great importance to Côte d'Ivoire which is politically stable and maintains a high economic growth rate every year, as a gateway to the Francophone West African region. Minister Kamikawa also stressed the importance of taking into account the perspective of Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and ensuring women's participation in the economy and public administration, when promoting cooperation between Japan and Côte d'Ivoire.
  2. In the session, Minister Ouloto, Chief Executive Officer Amichia, and Vice-President Fadika-Delafosse respectively made remarks on the current state of the economy of Côte d'Ivoire, measures to further increase the number of foreign companies, women’s social advancement, and efforts related to WPS.
  3. In closing, Minister Kamikawa expressed her gratitude to the participants, and ended the meeting on a friendly note while stating that she would utilize the valuable opinions of the participants when considering ways to strengthen bilateral relations in the field of economy
