Foreign Minister MOTEGI's Trips
Visit to Israel, Palestine, Qatar, the Philippines and India
(January 10-18, 2026)
From January 10 to January 18, Foreign Minister MOTEGI visited visited Israel, Palestine, Qatar, the Philippines, and India.
In Israel, Minister held a foreign ministers' meeting and working lunch with H.E. Mr. Gideon Sa'ar, Minister of Foreign Affairs. In Palestine, Minister held a meeting with H.E. Dr. Mohammad Mustafa, Prime Minister. In Qatar, Minister held the “Third Japan-Qatar Strategic Dialogue” with H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. In the Philippines, Minister held a Japan-Philippines Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Working Brunch with Hon. Maria Theresa Lazaro, Secretary of Foreign Affairs. In India, Minister held the 18th Japan–India Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue including a tête-à-tête (one-on-one meeting) with H.E. Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs.
Attendance at the APEC Ministerial Meeting 2025 (October 29-31, 2025)
APEC Ministerial Meeting 2025
From October 29th to 31st, Foreign Minister MOTEGI visited the Republic of Korea to attend the APEC Ministerial Meeting in Gyeongju.
At the meeting, Minister MOTEGI discussed issues related to trade and investment as well as emerging challenges such as artificial intelligence (AI) and demographic changes.
On this occasion, Minister MOTEGI also held bilateral meetings with other ministers from other economies, including the Japan-U.S.-ROK Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, to exchange views on bilateral relations, regional and international affairs, among other topics.
Attendance at ASEAN-related Summit Meetings
(September 26-28, 2025)
From October 26th to 28th, Foreign Minister MOTEGI visited Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, to attend the ASEAN+3 Summit, the East Asia Summit (EAS), and the RCEP Summit.
Through these meetings, Minister promoted the "Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)" and further strengthened cooperation with ASEAN, which is a "Trusted Partner" and a key to realizing FOIP.
