From August 17 to 22, Foreign Minister MOTEGI visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman.

Through this visit, Minister MOTEGI, in light of the current situation in the Middle East, had meetings with key government officials of each country and the legitimate Yemeni government official based in Saudi Arabia, to reaffirm cooperation towards the early de-escalation of the situation and ensuring the free and safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, and to exchange views on strengthening bilateral relations across a wide range of fields.

• Foreign Minister MOTEGI’s Visit to Saudi Arabia and Oman (August 17-22, 2026)

From August 2 to 9, Foreign Minister MOTEGI visited Mexico, Panama and Ecuador, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Through this visit, Foreign Minister MOTEGI held meetings with key government officials in each country on bilateral cooperation—focused primarily on economic and economic security areas such as strengthening the resilience of supply chain, including for critical minerals, and energy—as well as on collaboration to maintain and strengthen a free and open international order based on the rule of law.

• Foreign Minister MOTEGI’s Visit to Mexico, Panama, Ecuador, and Trinidad and Tobago (August 2-9, 2026)

From July 21 to 24, Foreign Minister MOTEGI visited Manila, the capital of the Philippines, to attend ASEAN-related foreign ministers’ meetings (the Japan-ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the ASEAN Plus Three Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the 16th East Asia Summit (EAS) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, and the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF).

Foreign Minister MOTEGI also took this opportunity to attend the Mekong-Japan Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and the Fifth Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD), as well as to hold bilateral meetings with representatives from various countries.
