Japan-ASEAN Relations
The Commemorative Summit for the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation

- The Government of Japan will hold the Commemorative Summit for the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation and its related programs in Tokyo from December 16 to 18, 2023. The leaders of ASEAN countries and their partners will visit Japan to attend these events. Prime Minister Kishida will co-chair the Commemorative Summit with H.E. Mr. Joko Widodo, the President of the Republic of Indonesia,.
- During this historic Commemorative Summit, a Joint Statement, which will set out a new vision for the future, and its Implementation Plan including a wide range of concrete cooperation will be adopted as its outcome documents, based on the "heart to heart" relations of trust which have been built over the long years, thereby further strengthening the Japan-ASEAN relations.
- In addition to the Commemorative Summit, bilateral summit meetings, a dinner hosted by Prime Minister Kishida and Mrs. KISHIDA Yuko, a Gala Dinner, and the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) Leaders Meeting, in addition to a lunch meeting co-hosted by Keidanren and the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will be held. Furthermore, Mrs. KISHIDA Yuko will host the Partners’ Program.
