Foreign Minister Hayashi’s Meeting with ASEAN Committee in Tokyo (ACT)

On July 20, 2022, commencing at 3:00 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with ASEAN Committee in Tokyo (ACT). The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- Minister Hayashi stated that in the lead up to the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation in 2023, the logo and catchphrase for the 50th Year would be jointly announced at the ASEAN-Japan Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in early August. In addition, Minister Hayashi stated that Japan would like to carefully consider the interests and requests of each ASEAN country in developing a vision for future ASEAN-Japan relations which would be set out at the Commemorative Summit to be held in Japan in 2023, and confirmed that ASEAN countries and Japan would closely exchange views in this regard.
- Furthermore, Minister Hayashi spoke on regional and international affairs including Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the East and South China Seas, North Korea, and Myanmar, and had a discussion them with the representatives of ACT. They agreed to keep in close touch and continue to work together.
