Japan-India Relations

On May 16th, commencing at 4:35 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, held a telephone talk with H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India. The overview of the talk is as follows.

1. Prime Minister Abe conveyed his heartfelt sympathies over the fact that there have been enormous damages, including many lives lost, due to the dust storm which hit areas around Northern India twice this month.

2. Prime Minister Abe stated that he would like to further promote coordination and cooperation towards the achievement of a free and open Indo-PacificOpen a New Window, and both leaders held discussions on regional issues with a focus on Asia.

3. Prime Minister Modi stated that he is looking forward to his upcoming visit to Japan this year, and Prime Minister Abe stated that he would like to fully coordinate for a fruitful visit.
