Foreign Minister Kono Visits the Muara Commercial Port in Brunei
and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Overseas Training Cruise Crew

On February 11 during the afternoon, H.E. Mr. Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs, who is currently visiting Brunei, visited Muara Commercial Port and met with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) overseas training cruise crew who were docked at the port. The overview is as follows.
- Minister Kono visited Muara Commercial Port and then met with the JMSDF overseas training cruise crew docked at the port for a goodwill visit.
- During his address aboard the escort vessel DD YAMAGIRI, Minister Kono gave words of encouragement to the approximately 550 JMSDF crew members, saying, “The Japanese Government is promoting the Free and Open Indo-Pacific Strategy under the conviction that ensuring that this ocean, which we see before our eyes, is free and open is the cornerstone for peace and prosperity not only for Japan but for the world.” He also stated, “JMSDF crews sail the world’s oceans, make goodwill visits at ports in many countries, and promote activities for peace and security and defense cooperation, which holds extremely important meaning for the realization of a free and open Indo-Pacific for all countries.
