Prime Minister Ishiba’s visit to Vietnam-Japan University

On April 28, commencing at 4:40 p.m. local time (at 6:40 p.m. JST) for approximately 40 minutes, Prime Minister ISHBA Shigeru, who is visiting the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, visited the Vietnam-Japan University, and met with students of the university.
Attending on the Vietnam-Japan University side was President of Vietnam National University Le Quan and Rector of Vietnam-Japan University Furuta Motoo. Attending on the government of Viet Nam was Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, Minister of education and training Nguyen Kim Son, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Nguyen Minh Vu, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Mr. Pham Quang Hieu. The overview of the visit is as follows.
- At the outset, Prime Minister Ishiba expressed his delight at being able to visit the Vietnam-Japan University, a symbolic cooperation project between Japan and Vietnam. Prime Minister Ishiba expressed his expectation for the advancement of the procedures for an early settlement of the new campus, so that learning and research can be conducted in a further enriched environment.
- Subsequently, representatives of the students greeted in Japanese and conveyed their interests in Japan. They expressed that the university provides an opportunity to study their specialties and Japanese culture, and that they would like to pursue careers connected with Japan in the future. Prime Minister Ishiba answered questions from the students. Also, Prime Minister Ishiba appreciated their interest in Japan, and said he was impressed by the fluency of the Japanese, spoken by the students and expressed his hope that the students play a role as a bridge between Japan and Viet Nam upon graduation and Japan and Viet Nam cooperate for the peace and prosperity for the world.
