On June 19, commencing at 3:00 p.m., for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. MIYAJI Takuma, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call by Mr. Rangsiman Rome, Chairman of the Committee on National Security, Border Affairs, National Strategy and National Reform, House of Representatives, Thailand, and his party, who are currently visiting Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Mr. Miyaji, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, expressed that under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the relationship between Japan and Thailand have deepened, and that Japan hopes to further strengthen ties with Thailand toward the 140th anniversary of Japan-Thailand diplomatic relationship in 2027. In response, Chairman Rangsiman stated his intention to contribute to the further development of bilateral relationship going forward.
  2. Mr. Miyaji, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, conveyed to Chairman Rangsiman Japan’s intention to enhance cooperation on security in order to realize a free and open Indo-Pacific based on the rule of law. He also stated that Japan strongly supports Thailand’s OECD accession process. Chairman Rangsiman agreed on the importance of a free and open Indo-Pacific and expressed his pleasure at the deepened Japan-Thailand relationship, stating his desire to strengthen cooperation across a broad range of fields in the future.
  3. Both sides exchanged views on the current global economic situation and concurred on continuing cooperation on measures against special fraud, among other issues.
