On February 1, commencing at 10:00 a.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. KOMURA Masahiro, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs received a courtesy call from ten Cambodian youths involved in politics (two from the ruling party and eight from the opposition parties), who are visiting Japan as the part of JENESYS 2023, a people-to-people exchange program promoted by the MOFA. The overview of the courtesy call is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Mr. Komura welcomed their visit to Japan and stated that this invitation program is one of Japan's central efforts to support democratic development in Cambodia, and that he hopes that the exchange and dialogue among the participants across party boundaries will contribute to their democratic development.
  2. In response, the participants expressed their appreciation to the program as well as Japan’s assistance to Cambodia over the years and expressed their hope for Japan’s continuous support.
