Courtesy Call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU Ayano by H.E. Mr. CHUM Sounry, Ambassador-Designate of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Japan

On December 19, commencing at 4:20 p.m., for approximately 30 minutes, State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU Ayano received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. CHUM Sounry, Ambassador-Designate of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Japan. The overview is as follows:
- State Minister Kunimitsu welcomed Ambassador-Designate Sounry on his appointment and expressed her hope to cooperate closely towards the realization of a Free and Open Indo-Pacific. She stated that bilateral relations between Japan and Cambodia have made significant progress under the "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership" and expressed her desire to strengthen cooperation in the fields of security, the economy, and digital technology.
- In response, Ambassador-Designate Sounry stated that, as Ambassador to Japan, he would promote the” Economic Co-creation Package” and make every effort to further deepen bilateral relations between both countries in political and security cooperation, economy and trade, and the promotion of people-to-people exchange under the “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.” Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international affairs including the border situation between Cambodia and Thailand.
