Courtesy Call on Prime Minister Shinzo Abe from Deputy Chairman of the Royal Cambodian Armed Force (RCAF) Joint Staff, LT. Gen. Hun Manet
On April 26, commencing at 4:40 p.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Prime Minister Abe received a courtesy call from H.E. LT. Gen. Hun Manet, Deputy Chairman of the Royal Cambodian Armed Force (RCAF) Joint Staff, who is visiting Japan under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Strategic Exchange on Practical Level Invitation Program. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
1. Prime Minister Abe welcomed the visit to Japan by LT. Gen Hun Manet who is a future leader of Cambodia and stated that Japan will continue to provide assistance for Cambodia’s efforts to join upper middle income countries. In response, LT. Gen Hun Manet expressed his appreciation for the invitation and gratitude for the assistance over the past years for Cambodia from the Japanese Government and the people. He also conveyed best regards from Prime Minister Hun Sen, his father, to Prime Minister Abe.
2. Prime Minister Abe stated that it is important to conduct the general election this July in a way that appropriately reflects the will of the people, noting that Japan will continue to support Cambodia’s nation-building based on democracy. In response, LT. Gen Hun Manet expressed that he will convey this message to Prime Minister Hun Sen.
