Foreign State Minister Takei talks with Young Cambodians involved in Politics

On April 20, Mr. Takei Shunsuke, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call commencing from 10:30 a.m. for approximately 40 minutes by ten Cambodians involved in politics (two from ruling party, seven from opposition parties and one from a think tank), who were visiting Japan as a part of the MOFA’s youth exchange program called JENESYS upon the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. The overview of the courtesy call was as follows.

  1. State Minister Takei welcomed their visit to Japan in the year of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Japan and Cambodia, and stated that this invitation program was one of Japan’s core efforts to support Cambodia’s democratic developmen and that he would like to deepen exchanges with them as a politician.
  2. In response, the participants expressed their appreciation to the program as well as Japan’s assistance to Cambodia over the years, and expressed their hope for Japan’s continuous support.
