From September 23 to September 24, Mrs. Akie Abe visited Canada accompanying Prime Minister Shinzo where she had various exchanges with many people. Mrs. Abe attended a welcome ceremony given by the Canadian government, paid a courtesy call on H.E.Mr. David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston, and met with Mrs. Laureen Harper, spouse of H.E. Mr. Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, whom she has known for a long time, and renewed old friendships. She also had meetings with participants of the Kizuna (bond) Project and with those who have made efforts in building friendly relations between Japan and Canada.
