Free market Forces Yield Balance of Trade Improvement


There is also a downward trend in the share of the U.S. trade deficit held by Japan

Monthly Trends in Exports of U.S. Products to Japan 1994 and 1995

Exports of United States products to Japan increased for 19 consecutive monthe from June 1994 through November'95, as compared to the same month in 1994.

The share of the American trade deficit accounted for by Japan has been decreasing steadily, achieving a 21.4 point improvement from the peak in 1991 of 65% to the 1994 level of 43.6%.
That level has further declined in 1995 to 37.2%.
