- I'm an American woman involved in volunteer work and would like to discuss community issues with my counterparts in Japan. Is there any financial assistance available for doing this?

- 1.The Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership (CGP) provides support to institutions for grass-roots exchange between Japan and the United States.
- 2.CGP was established in April 1991 to help achieve closer relations between Japan and the United States and to contribute to a better world through the cooperation effort of both countries.

3.CGP has two main purposes:
- to promote collaboraion between Japan and the United States with the gaol of fulfilling shared global responsibilities and contributing to improvements in the world's welfare;
- to enhance dialogue and interchange between Japanese and American citizens on a wide range of issues, thereby improving bilateral relations.

4.CGP engages in two major programs to achieve these goals:
- the promotion of intellectual exchange to encourage global partnership between Japan, the United States, and other nations of the world;
- the promotion of mutual understanding at the regional and grass-roots level.
- 5.In promoting mutual understanding at the community and grass-roots level, CGP offers support for community activities and exchange programs.
