I'm an American woman involved in volunteer work and would like to discuss community issues with my counterparts in Japan. Is there any financial assistance available for doing this?
A.
1.The Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership (CGP) provides support to institutions for grass-roots exchange between Japan and the United States.
2.CGP was established in April 1991 to help achieve closer relations between Japan and the United States and to contribute to a better world through the cooperation effort of both countries.
3.CGP has two main purposes:
  • to promote collaboraion between Japan and the United States with the gaol of fulfilling shared global responsibilities and contributing to improvements in the world's welfare;
  • to enhance dialogue and interchange between Japanese and American citizens on a wide range of issues, thereby improving bilateral relations.
4.CGP engages in two major programs to achieve these goals:
  • the promotion of intellectual exchange to encourage global partnership between Japan, the United States, and other nations of the world;
  • the promotion of mutual understanding at the regional and grass-roots level.
5.In promoting mutual understanding at the community and grass-roots level, CGP offers support for community activities and exchange programs.
