- I am studying international relations at a US research institute and we would like to do a joint project with some institution in Japan on bilateral Japan-US relations in the Pacific rim. Is there any financial support available for this type of project?

- 1.The Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership (CGP) provides support to institutions for intellectual exchange between Japan and the United States.
- 2.CGP was established in April 1991 to help achieve closer relations between Japan and the United States and to contribute to a better world through the cooperative effort of both countries.

3.CGP has two main purposes:
- to promote collaboraiton between Japan and the United States with the goal of fulfilling shared global responsibilities and contributing to improvements in the world's welfare;
- to enhance dialogue and interchange between Japanese and American citizens on a wide range of issues, thereby improving bilateral relations.

4.CGP engages in two major programs to achieve these goals:
- the promotion of intellectual exchange to encourage global partnership between Japan, the United States, and other nations of the world;
- the Promotion of mutual understanding at the regional and grass-roots level.
- 5.In intellectual exchange, CGP provides support for policy-oriented research, intellectual dialogue, and information access. It also sponsors the Abe Fellowship, administered by Social Science Research Council in New York.
