Manufacturing Technology Fellowship Program (MTFP)

The Manufacturing Technology Fellowship Program gives American engineers a unique opportunity to work side-by-side with their Japanese counterparts in Japanese companies and gain a deeper understanding of Japanese manufacturing technology. The Program thus encourages exchange at the industry level and boosts mutual understanding at the personal level, while also promoting human resources development.

The Program provides young engineers with up to 12 months of Japanese language training as well as in-company training (alongside Japanese workers) in areas such as manufacturing, technological development and R&D. There were 29 participants in the Program in FY1993, followed by 13 in FY1994 and eight in FY1995.
