National Information Infrastructure (NII) (telecommunications)

The aim of NII is to promote the development of a framework for bilateral policy development and provide a round table forum for discussion between industry, academia and government. This will facilitate policy dialogue on the construction of telecommunications infrastructure in both countries. In the same way, joint ventures involving our private sectors will encourage dialogue on joint initiatives designed to upgrade the telecommunications structure in the Asia-Pacific region.

A round table discussion involving representatives of government, private industry and labor in both countries was held in November 1994 to exchange views on issues including: the general concept and principles of a national information infrastructure; technological development; applications; standardization; and telecommunications services.
