Protecting the Global Environmen
Conservation

The world's natural environment and diversity of wildlife need protection. We conduct policy dialogues to strengthen the environmental protections called for by the Washington Convention (which prohibits international trade in endangered species of wild fauna and flora), the Ramsar Convention (which aims to protect internationally-important wetlands, the breeding grounds of waterfowl), and the World Heritage Convention. Meetings to discuss multilateral treaty-related issues give our two countries further opportunities to confer on environmental issues like these.
