Children's Health

We provide strong support for the World Health Organization's Polio Eradication Program and the Children's Vaccine Initiative (CVI), with special emphasis on countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

[1] Polio Eradication Program

For some time, we have coordinated our attempts to eradicate polio in the Western Pacific, the region given first priority. The focus of attention has now turned to the second priority region, Southeast Asia. We are supplying polio vaccines, providing cold chain system equipment to control vaccine temperature during transport, and strengthening surveillance system on finding those suffering from polio.

[2] Children's Vaccine Initiative

We assist in the procurement and production of vaccines, and support vaccine quality control. We also provide assistance for vaccination programs and vaccine research and development. Study meetings are held to promote the aims of the Japan-U.S. Children's Vaccine Initiative (CVI).
