Japanese
From November 13th to November 14th 2012, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan hosted the FEALAC Eco-Business Promotion Conference in Tokyo, Japan.
- The Eco-Business Promotion Conference was held under the theme of “balancing environmental concerns and economic growth” and served as a follow-up to the “FEALAC Okada Green Initiative” which was announced by the Japanese Government at the 4th FEALAC Foreign Ministers Meeting, held in Tokyo in 2010.
- In his opening address, the Parliamentary Vice-Minister Mr. Hirotami Murakoshi referred to Japan’s international contribution in environmental areas and the promotion of infrastructure projects and underlined that Japan will continue to promote its advanced technology and expertise which has been nurtured by a spirit of co-existence with nature.
- In the various sessions of the Conference, high level government officials such as Mr. René Castro Salazar, Minister of Environment, Energy and Telecommunications of Costa Rica and representatives of the private sector from FEALAC member countries including Japan, carried out active discussions concerning the promotion of eco-businesses and success cases in Asia and Latin America.
- Japan expects that the Conference prove useful in promoting eco-businesses that contribute to the attainment of a sustainable society, a field in which Japan and its companies possess advanced technology and expertise. Furthermore, Japan will continue to actively engage, through forums such as FEALAC, in activities that promote friendship and cooperation with Asia and Latin America.
