II. Project / program description

  1. Objectives
    To upgrade techniques, knowledge and research capabilities in the field of observation seismology.
  2. Activities / contents
    Study general aspects of earthquakes generation and to estimate their parameters, install and operate seismic station and seismic networks, acquire, process and interpret seismic data.
  3. Expected outcomes / impact
    Contribution to the mitigation and prevention of earthquake disasters and monitor earthquake activity around east African Rift valley, the river Nile, Artificial lake and major tectonic trends in Africa.
  4. Features in line with the Agenda for Action
    To promote human capacity building for Africa in the field o seismology and support south - south cooperation efforts in Africa.
