II. Project / program description

  1. Objectives:
    The main project objective was to enable the country to start interventions to relaunch the agricultural sector in a logical and sustainable manner. This should have been achieved through the preparation of a sector review and the identification of potential priority programmes/activities.
  2. Activities / contents:
    A review of the sector by a multidisciplinary team and the identification of priority interventions (programme/activities) mainly technical assistance (rather than investments).
  3. Expected outcomes/Impacts:
    An agricultural sector review document discussed and agreed with the Government including identified and briefly outlined priority programmes/activities.
    Several of the identified priority activities have been presented to and financed by external donors (TCP, AfDB, WB, Italy, etc.). The Government is utilising the framework drafted by the project as main guide for all interventions, externally/internally funded, on the sector.
