II.Project / programme description

  • Provision of tailor-made and integrated skill development programmes particularly for rural women. UNIDO capacity building programmes for women entrepreneurs are specifically designed to include approaches and methodologies for entrepreneurial and managerial skill development as well as environmentally sustainable production techniques at sub-sectoral or industrial cluster levels.
  1. Objectives
  • to increase capacity of various business development and support institutions to analyze and assess the needs of women entrepreneurs, and to develop and implement appropriate programmes;
  • to increase capacity of training institutions, credit and finance institutions, technology development organizations, women's business associations, civil society organizations; to provide appropriate skill enhancement programmes for women entrepreneurs designed to include approaches and methodologies for entrepreneurial and managerial skill development as well as environmentally sustainable production techniques at sub-sectoral or industrial cluster levels;
  • to increase access of women entrepreneurs to business and industry networks to facilitate their access to information, technology, markets and raw materials relevant to the development, sustainability and expansion of their entrepreneurial activities.
  1. Activities / contents
    The UNIDO package of skill enhancement programmes include the gender needs assessment and analysis, organization of training of trainers (TOT) workshops for institutions, pilot training programmes for women entrepreneurs, and introduction of monitoring mechanisms to identify further requirements and follow-up activities
  2. Expected outcomes / impacts
  • Training modules and manuals adapted to the local condition and needs of women entrepreneurs;
  • Capacity building institutions and business support organizations equipped with the use of the manuals as well as conduct of training programmes
  • A pool of trainers specialized in the subjects on management, entrepreneurship and technical training of women entrepreneurs;
  • A group of women entrepreneurs assisted in their skill upgrading in preparing viable business plan as well as in enterprise management;
  • A network of business support services access to women entrepreneurs for further development of their business activities.
  1. Features in line with the Agenda for Action
    The projects promote regional cooperation and address women entrepreneurship development and capacity-building in agro-related industry.
