II.Project / program description

  1. Objectives
    To build capacity in SSA to enable the business sector to better exploit the regional and global markets and thereby to provide a basis for export-led, high-growth development.
  2. Activities / contents
    The training of trainers; preparation of training manuals; seminars and workshops; developing courses at existing educational and technical institutions; strengthening existing NGO networks; sector and regional studies; regional seminars and conferences.
  3. Expected outcomes / impacts
  • to strengthen government capacities to identify policies and further integration at sub-regional and global levels
  • to establish a network of national and regional trainees in the area of trade
  • to strengthen institutions that support firms to expand markets overseas
  1. Features in line with the Agenda for Action
    To enhance the trading capacity of SSA by drawing on the approaches identified in the Agenda for Action that include Regional Cooperation and South-South Cooperation, and that focus on the ultimate beneficiary being the private sector.
