- Objectives
To develop collaborative arrangements/programs between institutions in IGAD region and Asian institutions and people in the area of economic cooperation under TICAD II.
- Activities / contents
- Collaboration among Chambers of Commerce and Industry as well as other Business Associations, through exchange of information, visits, joint fairs, technical advice, etc.
- Collaboration between IGAD and Asian institutions of Transport and Communications in planning of regional transport and communications infrastructure, fund raising, role of private sector, etc.
- Collaboration on credit development for small and medium businesses through sharing of information, namely on the outstanding credit models such as the Grameen Bank Model, visits and tours, and attachments of personnel in banking institutions.
- Collaboration between Asian institutions and IGAD member states in the development of stock exchanges and capital markets.
- Expected outcomes / impacts
To raise the standard of living of the region by benefiting from the know-how of Asian institutions through information sharing and field training. - Features in line with the Agenda for Action
Contribute to African capacity building by means of Asia-Africa cooperation
