II. Project / program description

  1. Objectives
    • To enable the private sector to play a lead role in the outward-oriented development strategy adopted by Mozambique for improved standard of living.
  2. Activities / contents
    • Strengthening of institutional infrastructure for trade promotion
    • Capacity building for trade-related human resource development
    • Revamping the trade information service
    • Products and market development and promotion of investment and joint ventures
  3. Expected outcomes / impacts
    • Enhanced technical services and institutional support for trade development activities
    • Improved availability of skilled and trained personnel for operating trade
    • Increased activities in the trade sector
    • More job opportunities induced by the trade-related activities
  4. Features in line with the Agenda for Action
    • Representatives of government and private sector participated actively in the project formulation process. They are both represented sufficiently on the Project Management and Steering Committee, thus establishing national ownership
    • The project will result in increased trade-related activities and increased participation of Mozambique in intra-SADC and south-south trade
