II. Project / program description

  1. Objectives
    • Contribution to the acceleration of the process of socio-economic development in selected countries through the expansion of the informal sector.
  2. Activities / contents
    • ECA Methodological approach tested in four selected countries i.e. Ethiopia, Zambia,
      Cote d'Ivoire and Ghana.
  3. Expected outcomes / impacts
    • Development process of the IS initiated in two African countries i.e. Ethiopia and Zambia
    • Political and economic decision markers sensitized
    • Measures to promote the IS identified
    • International Conference on the promotion of DS.
    • Phase III Proposal finalized and submitted
    • National Workshops in the pilot selected countries i.e. Ethiopia and Zambia.
  4. Features in line with the Agenda for Action
    Based on the "best practices" this programme will be extended to some selected African countries for informal sector capacity building and South South Cooperation.
