- Objectives
The main objective of MEFMI is to increase the macroeconomic competence and financial management capacity in the governments in Southern and Eastern Africa. The program includes capacity building/education in areas such as macroeconomy, debt relief, financial management and international reserves management. - Activities / contents
The project consists of two different parts. One part is education of individuals within the civil service. The project aims to educate around 3 600 civil servants per year through seminars, courses, counselling and other education specifically directed at work. Another component in the program is to educate around 60 experts that could work as experts and consultants for their own countries.
MEFMI is also assisting the different countries in establishing systems and routines regarding financial control and administration to secure efficient use of resources. - Expected outcomes / impacts
By an increased local and regional capacity in different macroeconomic issues the possibilities to implement the structural adjustment programs in an efficient way these countries will rise considerably.
