- Objectives
There is a tremendous imbalance of the telephone density between urban and rural areas in African countries. The purpose of this project is to study how to establish the most suitable, simple and cost-effective telecommunications system for African countries taking into consideration the rapid progress of info-communications technologies in recent years. - Activities / contents
- To study the present status of the telecommunications development in rural areas of African countries.
- To make a report on telecommunications development in rural areas of African countries.
- To provide international organizations and African countries with copies of this study report.
- Expected outcomes / impacts
The optimum telecommunications systems will be adapted for respective countries and non-telephone area will be reduced. - Features in line with the Agenda for Action
To ensure that future network planning is implemented smoothly, it was decided that the most effective study method would be to adopt a co-study approach between Japan and African countries.
