II. Project Description
Decentralized district level sanitary services.
- Objectives
1) To provide support to the development of IC's health systems through the establishment of a district sanitary level system
(a) Five years action plans; sanitary information system; procedures and tools for administrative management.
(b) Community based management of the health care structures.
(c) Improvements in health care quality through the rationalization of the medical activities of urban health centers, and
(d) Development of alternative financing sources.
2) Support to primary health care programs (tuberculosis MST/SIDA mother and infant mortality) as a means of 3 AT, and special financing for the utilities of these programs.
3) Real development of the health care structures ( buildings; reinstatements; transformation; in order to improve accessibility at the care centers). - Output/Results
1) Improved accessibility at care centers and improved medical cover in an unfavorable urban zone of Abidjan.
2) Developed community participation in the actions and financing of health care.
Selection Criteria
The project can serve as a model for other donor counties, which are concerned with the development of urban health care.
The contribution of the IC's people (30MF) at project start-up have to be considered at project end, since the IC's people established the health care structure (district hospitals) with a view to improve the quality of health care.
