- Objectives
To contribute to strengthening African countries' capacity to manage their health development programmes, particularly at the central (strategic) and provincial (programmatic) levels. - Activities
The IRSP is joint venture between the Republic of Benin and the World Health Organization Regional Office for Africa. Its aim is to strengthen the performance of health systems through training in public health and management. The beneficiaries are Ministries of Health of Member States of the African Region of WHO.
The present project plans to train and provide support to staff of Ministries of Health and health managers at provincial level in strategic and operational planning, formative supervision and evaluation of health programmes and projects. In-country and intercountry workshops will be organized. Follow-up visits and necessary support will be provided. Appropriate management tools will be development and made available to all the 46 countries of the Region. - Expected
It is expected that the skills acquired by the trainees will improve programme implementation, and further increase their relevance, effectiveness and efficiency. - Features in line with the Agenda for Action
The IRSP will contribute to strengthening health management capacity in Countries of the African Region.
