II. Project / program description

  1. Objectives
    Support the Government efforts to apply its food security and nutrition policy in favour of those most affected by structural adjustment.
  2. Activities / contents
    • Provide foods to 33,000 of the poorest urban households by increasing their income and reducing malnutrition in communities faced with the highest risk of food insecurity.
    • Contribute to create employment within food for work activities. Improve the nutritional assistance within the health centres.
  3. Expected outcomes / impacts
    • Reinforce the NGOs capacity to dealt with the malnourished children.
    • Contribute to the engagement of the communities in the nutrition activities.
    • Contribute to the creation and rehabilitation of the basic structures within the food for work activities.
    • Assure the food availability within the health centres which accompany its work with a training programme on nutritional education and follow-up of the malnourished children under treatment.
