II. Project description

  • Acceleration of community-based malaria prevention, through a strategy of local capacity building, community awareness and participation.
  1. Objectives
    • Improving community awareness and participation in a community-based malaria control initiative;
    • Improving health facility capacity in diagnosis, treatment and referral of malaria cases;
    • Reducing malaria incidence rate by 5% annually.
  2. Activities:
    • Rapid assessment for targeted sites;
    • Implementation of a pilot project of community-based malaria prevention and control;
    • Training of health staff in case management;
    • Monitoring, evaluation and dissemination of results;
    • Health education and social marketing.
