II. Project / program description

  1. Objectives
    To improve the health of the population by enhancing the quality of public health services at the district level.
  2. Activities / contents
    The programme will include seven components: budgetary and technical support to the health authorities in Zimbabwe's 58 districts, 8 provinces and the federal authorities; support for the development of a national gender strategy and for HIV/AIDS activities; assistance to the drug distribution programme; strengthening of the capacity of laboratories through the renovation of 28 district laboratories; as well as enhancement of the national public health information system.
  3. Expected outcomes / impacts
    Enhanced quality of public health services through the strengthening of national capacity.
  4. Features in line with the Agenda for Action
    Capacity-building, gender mainstreaming, special emphasis on poor and especially vulnerable groups.
