- Objectives
Improve the general state of health of the population in a gender balanced manner through:
- a better functioning of the national health system
- a better use of external technical assistance and
- an increase of the number of Mozambican medical and non-medical specialists
- Activities / contents
- Support the elaboration of concepts and implementation mechanisms that contribute to the deconcentration/decentralisation of the administration
- Explore possibilities to support the elected municipal bodies to allow them to assume their responsibilities through direct allocation of budget support
- Consolidate the operational and financial planning process at the provincial and district level in close co-ordination with the donors at provincial level and promote increased ownership of the process by national partners
- Support the definition of common management procedures of external funds
- Expected outcomes / impacts
Better functioning of the national health system, with a particular emphasis on the periphery, an improved administrative and implementing capacity mainly at the provincial and district levels, refined planning procedures, and effective donor co-ordination and joint action - Features in line with the Agenda for Action
The GOM has attributed the utmost importance to the health sector and the operation of its National Health Service. The strengthening of the public health services is also a god of SDC
