II. Project/ program description

  1. Objectives
    To contribute to health system development and capacity building in public health and health services in the Sub-Saharan Region by holding dialogues among health policy makers of African nations and Japan and by conducting on-site investigations to collect relevant data for devising health system development programs in the Sub-Saharan Region.
  2. Activities/ contents
    Dispatch of experts to Sub-Saharan nations to meet with health policy makers to discuss relevant health issues and to conduct interviews, surveys and on-site investigations on public health and health services in the Region. A comprehensive report that will contribute to policy-formulation in health systems development in the Region will be produced. Seminars and/or other forms of dialogue among health policy makers will be conducted, strengthening partnerships between African nations and Japan.
  3. Expected outcomes/ impacts
    Relevant data for developing strategic approaches to improve public health and primary health care of the people in the Region will be collected, contributing to policy-making of Sub-Saharan nations.
  4. Features in line with the Agenda for Action
    The project will contribute to health systems development, with particular emphasis on capacity building in the health sector, thereby improving the public health and health services standards of the Region.
