II. Project / program description
- Objectives
To share with the beneficiary countries the Indonesian experiences in managing the population problems, especially related to Family Planning/Reproductive Health and to assist the beneficiary countries by training their population-issue related officials in order to be deal more effectively with population issues of their country. - Activities / contents
ITP features a successful community-based programme of managing population problems. It emphasizes on role-modelling and activities by direct demonstration rather than classroom activities (teaching or training) of one-way communication. It is an effective means for participants to learn the Indonesian experience by direct observation and involvement in the existing community-based programmes and introduce them with the population problems and methods of problem-solving. ITP activities include:- Currently ITP has been conducting 5 topics of Observation Study Tour Programmes, namely:
- Community Participation in National Family Planning/Reproductive Health Programme; The Indonesian Experience
- Planning and Managing Community-Based National Family Planning/Reproductive Health Programme; The Indonesian Experience
- Information, Education, and Communication in National Family Planning/Reproductive Health Programme; The Indonesian Experience
- Women in Family Planning/Reproductive Health Development; The Indonesian Experience
- Planning and Managing Community-Based National Family Planning/Reproductive Health Programme; The Indonesian Experience
Besides the 5 topics mentioned above, ITP also will conduct 4 other topics for OST, these topics are as follows: - OST on the Role of Moslem Leaders and Islamic Organization in Family Planning/Reproductive Health; The Indonesian Experience
- OST on Management Information System in Family Planning/Reproductive Programme; The Indonesian Experience
- OST on Planning and Managing Adolescent in Family Planning/Reproductive Health; The Indonesian Experience
- OST on the Role of Policy Makers in Family Planning and Reproductive Health; The Indonesian Experience
- Internship:
ITP also offers groups of family planning field worker and their supervisor the possibility to spend three months living and working with their Indonesian peers. The Internship includes an initial month of Indonesian language training combined with programme orientation, to provide the basic essentials to live in a village environment and to work as Indonesian field workers. In the second month, they observe and discuss each element of the field worker's job. In the final month, they practice the job, with Indonesia field worker guiding them linguistically and technically. - Technical Assistance
ITP has national experts in Family Planning/Reproductive Health who have wide experience in managing the programme. Many also have experience in sharing this programme implementation with others, in particular in those areas where the Indonesian programme has been successful. These experts can be called upon by partner countries to assist, both with the other countries' programme and with the follow-up of implementation of action plans designed during OSTs or Internships.
- Currently ITP has been conducting 5 topics of Observation Study Tour Programmes, namely:
- Expected outcomes / impacts
- Improvement of quality in family planning and reproductive health programs in participants' country
- Increase of community participation in their family planning and reproductive health programme
- Improvement in reproductive health of community, especially that of women
- Features in line with the Agenda for Action
