II. Project / program description

  1. Objectives
    To strengthen the role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in political consensus building and in socio-economic development in African countries.
  2. Activities / contents
    • Promotion of involvement of people's organizations and NGOs in national economic and social life.
    • Implementation of the African charter for Popular Participation monitored
  3. Expected outcomes / impact
    • Capacity of People's organizations and NGOs strengthened
    • Interface between NGOs and government enhanced
    • NGOs capacity to effectively participate in Africa's recovery and development strategy
    • Guidelines, technical manuals on various themes designed to strengthen project implementation
      capacity of NGOs
  4. Features in line with the Agenda for Action
    The African Centre for Civil Society Organizations will promote the implementation of this programme through the strengthening of NGOs and CBOs as well as South South Cooperation.
