II. Project / program description

  1. Objectives
    To phase out the use of 75 metric tonnes of CFC-11 and 75 metric tonnes of CFC-12 as aerosol propellants in Tanzania, by converting the production facility at Mansoor Daya Chemical Ltd. from a CFC utilizing installation to a hydrocarbon based production process. This will eliminate the use of CFC from the aerosol sector.
  2. Activities / contents
    • Procurement of a new open air aerosol filling system with required safety and regulation control systems
    • Procurement of gas transfer and LPG purification systems
    • Services for installation and commissioning of the modified facility and training of the personnel
    • On-the-job training services of Mansoor Daya's staff
  3. Outcomes / impacts
    Converted filling line and the supply of LPG from the bulk storage tank.
  4. Features in line with the Agenda for Action
    environment management (ozone layer protection), compliance with international conventions, and global agreements and protocols
