II. Project / program description

  1. Objectives
    To build consensus on a Municipal Waste Management Programme for Africa to help improving urban health conditions and protect the environment.
  2. Activities / contents
    1. Six sub-region training workshops
    2. Programme development in the subregion
    3. Ministerial Meeting to adopt the programme
    4. Fund mobilization to implement the programme
  3. Expected outcomes / impacts
    1. Municipal Waste Management Programme for Africa be developed for each sub-region.
    2. The programme will be adopted as a model to solve Municipal Waste Management problems.
    3. Improvement of urban health conditions and protection of the Environment.
  4. Features in line with the Agenda for Action
    Already the two agencies have mobilized US$400,000 there is a need to mobilize US$1,000,000 to implement the first phase of the sub-regional programmes.
