II.Project / programme description
- Objectives
Support the Government's programme to improve the quality of and increase access to education within the context of education for all by the year 2000.
- Activities / contents
- Avoid closing down and ensure continuous operation of boarding-schools throughout the country at all educational levels during the full school year.
- Reduce short-term hunger of day students at boarding-schools and selected day-schools in drought-stricken areas.
- Contribute to household food security of teachers at assisted schools.
- Expected outcomes / impacts
- Assist with 80,190,000 rations to 27,000 boarding students in 173 boarding-schools.
- Assist with 33,480,000 rations to 31,000 day students in 173 boarding-schools.
- Assist with 18,000,000 rations to 25,000 students in about 80 selected day-schools in drought-stricken areas.
- Assist with 9,360,000 rations to 5,000 teachers in both boarding and day-schools assisted by the project.
